The short version
PeakPie stores what you log so it can score how your meals feed your body. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies. You can ask us to delete everything at any time.
Who we are
PeakPie (peakpie.com) is run from the United Kingdom. For anything about your data, email mark-holding@hotmail.co.uk.
What we store
- Your account: your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you continue with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. We never see your Google password.
- Your profile: what you tell us during setup, such as display name, sex, date of birth, height, weight, activity level, diet, allergies, health conditions, goals and time zone. We use these to set your nutrient targets.
- What you log: food and drink, portions, recipes and meals you save, water, exercise, weight, and the daily scores we calculate from them.
- Searches: the food names you search for and which result you pick, so we can find and fix foods that are missing from the database.
- Challenges: if you join a challenge, the other people in it can see your display name and your progress in that challenge.
- Reminders: if you turn on notifications, your browser's push subscription and your reminder settings.
Allergies, health conditions and what you eat can count as health information. We only use it to run PeakPie for you, and only because you chose to give it to us.
Photos
When you log food from a photo, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to recognise the food and estimate its nutrients. We don't keep the photo, and Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models.
Who else sees your data
We use a few services to run PeakPie. Each one only gets what it needs:
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Anthropic recognises food in photos and estimates nutrients for foods you describe by name.
- hCaptcha checks that sign-ups come from people, not bots.
- Open Food Facts receives the barcode when you scan a product. We send only the barcode, nothing about you.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
Some of these services may process data outside the UK, under the safeguards that UK data protection law requires. We don't sell or rent your data to anyone, and we don't share it for advertising.
Cookies
We only use cookies that PeakPie needs to work, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your colour scheme. No analytics or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. Email mark-holding@hotmail.co.uk from the address on your account and we'll delete your account and everything in it within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email mark-holding@hotmail.co.uk and we'll reply within a month. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Not medical advice
PeakPie gives general nutrition information. It isn't a medical service, and its scores aren't a diagnosis or a treatment plan.
Changes
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
